This is the outer view of Yurikamome Shimbashi Station, which lies over a street .
Yurikamome (“seagull” in Japanese) is a light rail service which shuttles between Shimbashi and Odaiba area over Tokyo Bay. When Odaiba area was turned from a vast landfill site to business and residential area, Yurikamome line was introduced as a main route to that. But soon it turned out that the capacity of Yurikamome is too small for the traffic to Odaiba, so Rinkai Line , which is a full-size rail service, was introduced 10 years after Yurikamome. Still, Yurikamome is an important route because it connects directly between the heart area of Tokyo and Odaiba.
