The northwest corner of the rectangle of Kamata West is Hasunuma Station. Tamazutsumi-Dori street crosses Tokyu Ikegami Line railroad at this station.
Hasunuma is the first station of Tokyu Ikegami Line from Tokyu Kamata station. Hasunuma (Hasu Numa) means “Lotus swamp” in Japanese, which shows this area used to be a low and wet land up until modern days. After the unbanization of Tokyo, the downtown area of Kamata spread far beyond this area, but still Ikegami Line delineates Kamata downtown in its west side.
