Sugamo is one of the most characteristic downtowns in Tokyo. A shopping arcade in Sugamo is said to be “Harajuku for elderly people”, which means this shopping arcade (“Sugamo Toge-Nuki Jizo shopping arcade) attracts many elderly people.
But this is the photo of this shopping arcade. You can see not only elderly people but also people of all generations. Probably there are comparatively many elderly people there, but what is most astounding is that this street keeps lots of energy even in this pandemic. Japan’s elderly people may be the hope to turn around Japan’s declining economy.
