There are some rivers around Tokyo, but Sumida River is the most famous and popular. When Ieyasu Tokugawa built the current Tokyo (then “Edo”) 420 years ago, this river was the only river close to the city. From then, people living in this city gathered around this river, like the famous fireworks festival in summer.
But the picture I chose here is not such a striking one. After the burst of the economic bubble 30 years ago, many apartments and condos have been built on this river ,like the ones in this picture. Many people like to live close to the river because of its view and space, especially close to this famous river. It seems their choice was correct.
