Nishi-Kasai (West Kasai) is relatively a new town. Kasai used to be a sparse lowland area on the seashore of Tokyo bay. But after the previous Tokyo Olympic games in 1964, a new subway line (Tozai Line) penetrated this area, and in 1979 Nishi-Kasai station opened. After that, this area swelled up rapidly.
Now, Nishi-Kasai is famous for “India Town” there. There are many Indian people living in this area, and you can find many Indian restaurants across the town. I hope that Indian people living there can visit their home country after the current pandemic has eased.
