Sukiyaba-bashi (Sukiya bridge) is the crosswalk next to the famous Ginza crosswalk, which you can see farther away in the photo . Up until 70 years ago this was not a crosswalk : rather, this was namely a bridge which crossed the outer moat of the Royal Palace (that means the outer moat of Edo castle up until 150 years ago). At that time this bridge was the gateway to GInza shopping area, so it was featured in many movies and dramas.
Even after the moat was filled into the street called “Outer Moat Street (Sotobori dori)”, Sukiya-bashi has not lost its shine until now . Many international brands opened their shops around this crosswalk , making this area no less fashonable than GInza. On this day people seemed happier enjoying shopping and walking as the smell of COVID-19 is fading away.
