Asakusa Kaminari-mon (the gate of thunder) is ,in a sense, just the entrance gate of the worshiper’s path to Sensoji temple. But this gate became much more famous than Sensoji temple now: no doubt became this gate the icon of traditional Tokyo for tourists from overseas.
The gate itself is an ordinary type, which you can find easily elsewhere in Tokyo. But what made this gate so famous may be the gigantic Japanese lantern ,which emits the strong fragrance of people’s culture in the Tokugawa Shogunate era. On this day, too, plenty of tourists from all over the world blocked the way through this gate.
