Yodobashi Camera is one of the biggest chain stores which sell appliances including IT devices. Yodobashi is the name of an area close to Shinjuku, which is the birthplace of this mega store. But the store in the photo is located at Akihabara . Isn’t Akihabara the center of IT devices with well-known stores?
Until 20 years ago there were many brand names in Akihabara which sell IT devices. But since then this town changed a lot: many appliance shops in Akihabara could not compete with its rivals like Yodobashi camera and gave way to them. But this town has gained another feature which no other town can compete: the town for “nerds”, or “Otaku”. Now Akihabara is filled with “Con-cafes”. “Con-cafe” means “concept cafe”, which boasts its special concepts like “maid cafe”. It seems that this town always goes a bit ahead of the time.
