From this week, I will introduce 10 important transportation lines of Tokyo. The first one is JR Tokaido Line.
Formally, Tokaido Line runs between Tokyo and Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe, which used to be the backbone railway of Japan. Now that position was replaced by the bullet train, or Shinkansen, Tokaido Line became important regional railways of each metropolitan areas.
In Tokyo, Tokaido Line runs on the east side of Tokyo city center, connecting Tokyo Station, Shinagawa, and Yokohama. This line became more important since it was connected to Tohoku Line at Ueno Station. Tokaido Line trains, which consist of 15 cars and run as rapid trains in a north-south direction, are no doubt the main bloodstream in arteries.
