Ryogoku Bridge is one of the bridges over Sumida River. Each bridge has its own unique character, but this bridge can claim the special status among them. At first , the ancestor of this bridge is the oldest one which crosses the south part of Sumida River: it was completed at around 1650. The second reason is its design. At the ends of the bridge, there are spherical lanterns , which make this bridge elegant and characteristic.
