Suegen is a Japanese restaurant which specializes in chicken dishes, located across Shimbashi Station in the east. You may get surprised to find such a noble restaurant in Shimbashi’s busy area.
Suegen opened in 1909, even before WWI, and has been there for more than 110 years. This restaurant is famous for its frequent customer, Yukio Mishima, a famous novelist and an opinion leader in Japan who was born in 1925. When he instigated a rebellion to Japan’s Self Defense Force , and killed himself with Harakiri style in 1970, this restaurant became famous because on the previous day he enjoyed last dinner in this restaurant.
