Red Brick Avenue runs parallel to Yamanote Line , a few yards in the west of it. This one-mile long avenue is one of the alleys occupied by pubs in Shimbashi area.
The origin of this avenue is a brick factory just after Meiji Restoration, which was built to rebuild houses and shops by bricks to prevent the town from fire. But most people assume that the name came from the red bricks which paved this avenue.
