Futako-Tamagawa is located at the west end of Tokyo City District. In the past, it was just one of many small towns surrounded by farms on the outskirts of Tokyo. The change began 50 years ago when a department store with a big shopping mall was opened here, the first type of this kind in Japan. After that, this town has been attracting upper-class urban people to become one of the most fashonable towns in Tokyo area. I felt relieved to see many people enjoyng shopping here, which convinced me that the energy of this town has not waned even in this pandemic.
