Shinagawa is the area which is leading Tokyo’s future. Shinagawa station of Yamanote Loop Line connects the core Tokyo to Haneda airport by just 15 minutes. Shinagawa station of Shinkansen (bullet train) has grown up rapidly after its opening 20 years ago. But, what is most important not only for Shinagawa but also for Tokyo is the Shinagawa station of Maglev train . “Maglev train”, which means “magnetic levitation train”, is now under construction between Tokyo and Nagoya, and this new railway is planned to open in 6 years. This new Shinagawa station is said to threaten the status of Tokyo station as the “main station of Tokyo”.
This is the photo of the west gate of Shinagawa station. Though you can find many hotels and shopping arcades in this area, this area is depicted as the area of high-class residences and mansions, because there are many of them along the hill just at the west of the station. I believe the status of this residence area will become higher and higher in tandem with the growth of Shinagawa staition.
