Takanawa-dai is located about 15 minutes’ walk to the west of Shinagawa station, also about 15 minutes’ walk to the east of Gotanda station.
This area is one of the high-class areas in Tokyo. Before WWII, there used to be many mansions which belonged to royal family members. After the defeat, they had to abandon their status and their properties, then several businesses bought their land, and built hotels and large facilities. But this area did not lose its prestige : there are still many big houses in this serene area which people in Tokyo adore to live in.
