Eitai Bridge is the last bridge for Sumida River, which means it is the closest bridge to Tokyo Bay among bridges over Sumida River. It is just one mile from Nihon-bashi to the east, and the other side of it is Monzen-Nakacho.
If you see the photo, you might guess Eitai Bridge was constructed recently, but surprisingly, this bridge was constructed 100 years ago after the Great Kanto Earthquake destroyed the previous one. At that time this was the most modern bridge in Tokyo. Not only that. Eitai Bridge dates back to 400 years ago, and had been featured in many Ukiyoes. No doubt has this bridge been the icon for Tokyo.
