Tamachi Station East Gate used to be a gateway to an industrial area which lay on landfill sites of Tokyo Bay just 20 years ago. But, as I wrote before, this area rapidly changed to office areas, East Gate also changed its role ; a gateway for businesspersons.
Especially, the area around East Gate is changing dramatically. The north site of the gate, which used to be the site for gas tanks, changed to high-rise office buildings, hotels, hospitals, and an elementary school for residents. The south side of the gate is still occupied by Tokyo Institute of Technology, but in a few years it will move to another place and the area is planned to build other office buildings. Tamachi Station East Gate is promised to become an important business area for Tokyo.
