Sakasa-gawa alley is a modern and fashionable alley in East Kamata area, which is exceptional in this area.
Sakasa-gawa (meaning: Sakasa river) used to be an irrigation channel when this area was a farm in Edo era. Through the modernization of Kamata , East Kamata gradually became a busy zone, but this channel was a backside of the town.
Ten years ago, an ambitions project completed. It was to fill the old channel and make a modern alley which attract people through many events. It ended in success: people enjoy walking along this alley not only when a flea market held but also in every weekend.
