Ryogoku is located about 2 miles northeast of Tokyo station. Up to 50 years ago, Ryogoku station used to be the terminal station for trains to Chiba prefecture, but it lost this position because of the change of the railway route. But it didn’t undermine the renown of this town : it has accommodated Ryogoku Sumo hall for more than 100 years. When Coronavirus firtst attacked Japan, Sumo tournament had to be cancelled , but they managed to restart the tournament by limiting the number of spectators. In this photo I can see people visiting this hall to enjoy Sumo tournament…. no, they might be visiting here to remember the ordinary days before Coronavirus.
