Probably many people outside Japan have heard the name “Shinjuku” as a main shopping spot of Tokyo. I would say there are two “giants” in Tokyo in regard to shopping area, Ginza and Shinjuku. Ginza is “the boulevard of Japan”, and Shinjuku is “the shopping zone for people in Tokyo”.
It is difficult to choose the shopping area in Shinjuku to take photos, because Shinjuku’s shopping zone is very wide and has many areas with various characters. Today I chose this photo, the photo of a main shopping street called “Shinjuku-dori” which runs from Shinjuku Station to Isetan department store. During the rapid growth period of Japan after WWII, the number of users of Shinjuku Station outstripped that of Tokyo Station, and we cannot imagine the reverse in the foreseeable future. On this day I felt the energy of people in Tokyo are coming back .
