Osaki is one of the stations on Yamanote Loop Line. Up to 40 years ago, this staion was said to be “the quietest station on Yamanote Line” , with the smallest number of passengers among this trunk line in Tokyo. At that time this station was surrounded by a large railyard and many factories.
Since then this station has changed dramatically. The railyard and factories moved away, and at their site came many office buildings and shopping arcades. Now Osaki is said to be one of the seven “city cores” of Tokyo. A lot of people go through this station every day. The only thing which shows the old days of this station is the fact that most trains on Yamanote Line start and end their operations at this station.
