Wakasu Seaside Park

Wakasu Seaside Park is located on a landfill site in Tokyo Bay.

In 1970s this area attracted lots of attention , because unimaginable volume of garbage was being transported every day to make landfill sites around here, causing severe confrontation between people in Tokyo creating garbage and those accepting garbage near these sites. No doubt was it one of the biggest social issues at that time.

After then, people in Tokyo managed to solve this difficult issue by constructing large incinerators in every ward . Time passed by, and those landfill sites became good and precious recreational areas in Tokyo. Many people enjoying their holidays here seem they do not know the history of this area.
