Hyakken-dana

people in town

Hyakken-dana is an alley in Shibuya , just within a yard from fashionable “109” building. Hyakken-dana means “one-hundred stores”. After Shibuya town was completely destroyed through WWII, small shop owners flocked again to build makeshift stores in this area, which is the origin of Hyakken-dana.

Amazingly, this alley still keeps the basic style of that time. You would be surprised to see such a messy view next to the brilliant fashion building. But the end of this view is approaching: a new redevelopment plan of this area is now about to start. It is the last chance now to see such illusory town.
