We can see many businesspersons visiting Japan for business talk. We can also see many tourists visiting Japan to enjoy their vacations. But there are quite a few people who do not visit. Why?
I believe it boils down to anxiety caused by lack of information. There are few websites written in English. To make matters worse, most of the owners of English websites paid some costs for translation. It is natural that they would try to recover that cost from foreigners, so the price should be higher .
The same applies to news media. They publish English articles to increase the clicks outside Japan, so they tend to keep away from tedious facts.
Then how about SNS? The SNSs written by foreigners visited Japan do not include a lot of useful information ,or in some cases, are the copies of other travellers’. SNSs written by Japanese are hard to read. because of language and the immense volume.
As you can see, even today, the information you want is not easily available.
So most overseas companies set up subsidiaries in Japan or partner with Japanese trading companies. But fledging startups or small business owners cannot afford to them. Tourists can use travel agencies, but some people don’t like them because they often offer high-class hotels and transportations to avoid complaints. These are the reasons why there are still quite a few businesspersons or tourists who do not visit Japan.
However, you can solve these problems if you have such a Japanese friend as follows: Firstly, he/she has been involved in social activities for a long time in Japan. Secondly, he/she can use English. Lastly, you can contact to him/her at any time and ask anything. If many people have such friends in Japan, more overseas companies will start their business in Japan , which will benefit Japanese people. As for tourism, more people will enjoy Japan tour in the same way as their home countries. I started this website hoping to be one of those “friends”.
This year, the Coronavirus pandemic is overwhelming the world, and both business travelers and tourists have disappeared from Japan. However, it is no doubt people will overcome this challenge and start travelling again someday. At that time, we will probably see a completely different style for both business travel and tour…No, it is us living today who are obliged to give birth to these new travel styles.
Therefore, I launched this website on July 24, 2020: the day once scheduled for Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony but got postponed.
Coronavirus heralded a new era for both the world and Japan. I’d be happy if I could be one of the members to create it.
